Packing Like a Pro: The Best Tips for an Organized Move
Moving can be a daunting task, but having a well-prepared checklist will make it a smooth and well-organized transition to your new home. We know this from moving all our stuff and animals from South Carolina to New Jersey, was so tiring. Making sure we had a checklist of all the stuff we needed was the key to it running smoothly.
Before we moved we all went through our stuff, and decided what to keep and what to give away, donate, or sell and what to just throw away, Decluttering is the main thing we did, to make the packing process easier and we had less things to bring, and move. Tell me how we still can not find half our stuff.
Start by packing one room at a time, and label each box so that you know where it belongs, we wrote on the boxes to what and where it belonged, this helped us to make the unpacking a lot easier. Knowing what was in the box helped us to unpack it faster, we did the kitchen first and then we did each bedroom, the last thing to get done was the living room we were waiting for the new couch to come.
Reinforcing the boxes to hold heavy stuff is a must, we dont want anything to fall out and break. My sister has our mom’s china and we were very careful with loading and unloading it. To ensure things are not broken write on the box what it is and how fragile we are, things that can’t be replaced are a priority and should be unloaded first.
Not to waste bubble wrap and tissue use some of your clothes to wrap things that, need to be wrapped, like a TV screen can be wrapped up with a blanket, something glass can be wrapped with clothes, and so on. This makes nothing wasted and less stuff you have to throw out later.
Clothes can be left on hangers and plastic bags can be placed on them to cover them up. Knowing all of these ideas and more would have helped us out more, instead of using all the boxes we did. Using heavy-duty moving bags is a great way to put clothes shoes and even purses, saves time and boxes and you can stack them on each other to save space in the moving truck.
Pack a separate box with essential items you will need on moving day and immediately upon arrival at your new home. This can include toiletries, a change of clothes, important documents, and basic kitchen supplies.
